About Us at Tallship Poodles
A New Home
And A New Start
After working in healthcare, on the front lines, for many years, we decided that it was time to retire and return to our home province, Newfoundland. We were drawn back to the ocean, the beautiful scenery and the wonderful people that we grew up with.
So many facets to our unique Island, the rugged windswept coastlines, the deep fjiords of Gros Morne National Park ( a UNESCO World Heritage site.), the Viking Settlement Archaeology Site at L’Anse Aux Meadows, and our quirky cities and towns with their colourful houses and even more colourful people.
For people not familiar with Newfoundland, if you decide to visit, you are in for a treat. There are icebergs, whales, ghost stories and pirate tales.
Newfoundland means many things to many people, from the ‘Four Corners of the Earth’ to the ‘Tip of Atlantis’ and our own favorite, ‘Home’. Our dogs are delighted to move to the Island with us.
We divide our time between visiting family on the stunning west coast where the dogs can run themselves exhausted with swimming and retrieving at the lake, and our own home located on the lovely Exploits River, where they can play with doggy friends and roam around our 110 year old house, their lives are full.
Now that we are retired and empty nesters, we have time to pursue our passions and I am able to focus on what I love. My passion has always been dogs, they are fulfilling in a way that is very hard to describe. The satisfaction of living with my own beloved dogs and the pride I feel when I am able to match a family to the perfect, healthy puppy for them is amazing.
I have always loved and admired all types of dogs, from goofy mixed breed sweethearts to the beautiful graceful purebreds.
While I have had and loved all of my furry canine companions over the years, nothing has replaced the poodle for me. My love of dogs always comes back to the poodle!
The reasons to love a poodle are different for each person but there is something for everyone.Everything about them appeals to me and makes my soul happy.
My reasons for poodles in my life are simple but important to me.
I am never alone, I cannot walk out of a room without a fluffy entourage, after all, I could be going somewhere fun, and my dogs sure don’t want to miss anything.
They are endlessly energetic and playful, these athletic dogs tear about like whirlwinds but finally collapse as motionless poodle fur rugs upon the floor.
Fantastically eager to learn, arguably one of if not the most intelligent breeds (a hotly debated topic between the Border Collie and Poodle supporters!!)
Poodles are amazingly quick and easily master any training you provide. With a week of careful training, I had each of my dogs housebroken.
I love to groom our dogs,so many options for creativity, think teddy bear or mohawk ..go wild with hair colours..the sky is the limit
